Before I changed careers to design, my business partner and I ran a dive charter business both locally and to the Bahamas. Upon our return from the Islands, the very first landmark visible was Tiara, the Crown Jewel of Singer Island, which signified we were home. Little did I know that through tragic circumstances created by hurricanes Jean, Francis and Wilma, I would one day work in that building for four years. I would meet and get to know many of the homeowners on a personal level. I would know the staff that runs the building and I would work with the construction team that put things back together after the devastation.
In the past four years both of the companies I worked for were involved with the rebuilding of homes in Tiara. Through both of these opportunities I was fortunate enough to meet some of the most friendly, down to earth people, from all over the world.
My work started with the hard hat days doing construction inspections for many of the homeowners. My job was to make sure Straticon had everything perfect and believe me, I made sure they did! Working with clients from studs and exposed electrical to the finished unit, ready to move into, I saw every stage along the way. Once the construction was finished, It was my pleasure to work with many of my clients designing and selecting window treatments, furniture, lighting, rugs and accessories. Even though floor plans are the same, no two units are even close. Each one reflects their own uniqueness of the very special people living inside.
